What is a binaural immersive audio piece? Binaural audio refers to 3D sound that is recorded through a binaural microphone, creating the sonical sensation of being in the space: a cinema just for the ears. The immersive nature of our pieces cast you, the audience member as a character within the story.

How is this experience structured? This experience includes 4 binaural audio pieces and a live phone call. This project is designed to sit alongside your everyday life, you can book a two week slot that suits you and listen to the audio clips in any order at your leisure, within your two weeks.

How long does each binaural audio piece last? Each audio piece is roughly 15 - 30 minutes and requires internet connection.
Should I listen to them in a particular order? No. The audio pieces and phone call can be experienced in any order.

Where and how should I listen to the audio pieces?
Mulaqat, Beyond The Flowers & Two Gears, No Helmet: For the best experience listen to these experiences in a quiet room with your eyes closed.
The Red Scarf: For a multisensory experience, we suggest you listen to The Red Scarf in your local cafe. However, if you are unable to do so due to the pandemic you could also listen to this experience in a quiet room with your eyes closed.

How do I get access to the audio pieces? Once you have booked your ticket, we will contact you via email and provide you with a link and password to a protected page on the Hitcher Encounters website. This password will allow you access to the audios for the two weeks you have booked only.

If I buy the phone call ticket, how will I access the phone call? Once you have booked your ticket, we will contact you via email and provide you with a number. You will be required to ring this number, at any point during the two weeks, in order to get your phone call. If the call is not picked up, we advise you to ring again at a different time. There is only one live interaction per audience member so please do not ring again after your call has been experienced.

I am an audience member outside of the UK. Can I still book the ticket including the live phone call? Yes. International service rates may apply for live phone calls, please contact your service provider for more information. However, we offer a live phone call for international audience members through Whatsapp.
We will try to work around your time zone, however, phone calls are more likely to be answered during British Standard Time. The phone call will be in English.

Why do you need my email address and phone number and how will my information be stored? We need your email address to contact you with the link and password to a password protected page. We need your phone number in order to know who has booked the phone call experience. Your information will be stored in a password protected Google Drive and will be deleted immediately after your two week slot.
Why should I buy a ticket? At Hitcher Encounters, we are eager to hear real stories from extraordinary people. We sought out people with travelling experience and found strangers who wanted to share their encounters with us. The passion that these inspiring storytellers have for their experiences was the driving force behind our creativity and we felt it would be a disservice not to share them with the world.
